The Drinking Horn

Thoughts on Life as a Horn Major

Leinenkugel's 1888 Bock

When I heard about this beer coming out, I got excited because A) I'm a fan of Leine beers overall and B) I'm a big fan of the bock style. This is a fairly straight forward dark beer that's smooth and full bodied. There aren't a lot of lingering flavors and the ALC/VOL is only 5.2% which makes this a really easy beer to drink. There isn't any kick-me-in-the-face bitterness from the hops because the malts dominate the flavoring. This has the smoothness, weight and some of the complexities of dark beer while being something I can drink after a long day at school without it counting as a meal.
